JAMMU, Apr 21: Distribution of ration and essential items among needy people continued in various parts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Shamsher Singh Manhas today distributed Personal Protection Kits (PPE) at Government Medical College Jammu in presence of Principal GMC Dr Sunanda Raina, Administrator Amit Sharma, Superintendent Dr Dara Singh, Superintendent Police Hospital Dr Kirti Sharma, Dr Rajeshwar Charak and other senior functionaries as well as the nurses including those working to treat COVID patients in the hospital.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta along with District President BJP Vinay Gupta distributed dry ration kits, face masks and sanitizers to over 100 needy families at Greater Kailash Ward Number 68. Others who were present on the occasion and contributed in donation were Ankush Gupta, District General Secretary, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Mandal President, Anil Kumar Councillor, Capt (Retd) Jigmeet Singh, Darshan Grover, Rohit Verma, Mandeep Chowdharyn, Sanjeev, etc.
Former Member Legislative Council (MLC) Vikram Randhawa distributed dry ration among the local needy families of village Belicharana, Kunjwani and Deeli in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment. Bharat Bhushan Mandal President, Capt Kehar Singh, Suraj Rana, Daler Singh, Lucky Manhas, Anil Kumar, Lovedeep Pathania, Satwinder Singh, Ashok Kumar and many others were present on the occasion.
RSS Swayam Sevaks distributed relief material including vegetables, dry ration and cooked food to the needy persons. Swayam sevaks from Raghunath Nagar Shakha distributed face masks to the police personal and others. Beside this, Swayam Sevaks distributed vegetables to 550 families at Trikuta Nagar. Another team of Swayam Sevaks provided cooked food to 800 people at Nai Basti Jammu.

A team of Set India distributed dry ration to 100 families in Jagti, Sitli Plant and Nagrota Bazaar in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Dinesh, Sarpunch Abba Jamwal and Amit Verma Panch. Rajesh Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, Tony Kumar and many others were preset on the occasion.
BJP Senior Leader and Member State Executive Committee Jai Ram Sharma served langar among needy labourers staying at Ward Number 10 of MC Bari Brahmana. Balwant Raj (Bhalla), Atresh Dutta BJP Block President Bari Brahmana and their team organised the langer.
ICICI Bank Ramban donated 5000 masks, 745 hand sanitizer and 2400 hand gloves from CSR to district administration Ramban to further distribution among frontline workers and voluntaries who are rendering their services in different capacities across the district Ramban to prevent COVID-19. District Panchyat Officer Ramban, Sunil Bhutyal, Manager ICICI Bank Ramban Amir Malik and many others were present on the occasion.
District Congress Committee, Control Room, Jammu continued its distribution of ration and masks to the poor families in Bakshi Nagar area of the city. Led by senior Congress leader SS Shingari and accompanied by Neeraj Gupta Secretary PCC and Charanjeet Kour and Sanjeev Kohli the team leaders provided relief material to over 150 families in Bakshi Nagar area comprising Christian Colony and adjoining mohallah.

Langar started by Shree Ganesh Mahotsav Committee Hiranagar for needy people continued for consecutive 9th day where approx 600 to 700 people take food on daily basis. Masks were also distributed to needy people. Among others present were Sanjay Shastri, Tehsildar Hiranagar Sohan Lal Rana, Neeraj Gupta, Joginder Pal and Narayan Dutt.
Team ‘The-Sara’ led by its Director Dr Raminder Jit Singh distributed essential food items among 20 families of village Toph Manhasan Mandal Jammu.
MD Banday Memorial Society Poonch distributed dry ration to handicapped, widows and other poor people of village Markote, Lohel Bela and Sib (Loran). Er Saleem Banday with other volunteers namely Ajit Singh, Imtiaz Ganai, Naveed Ahmed, Sohail Imtiaz, Waseem Raja, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din and Sarfaraz Ahmed were present on the occasion.
Poonch Police under the supervision of SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral distributed 300 ration kits and other items in far flung areas of Loilbella, Makarkote, Loran, Batalkot and Balla Bella of Poonch District. The team from Police Station Loran and DySP DAR Poonch Sheezan Bhat went to the areas along with administrator Aquaf Riaz Atish and distributed ration kits.
All Jammu and Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) under the leadership of its President Dr Sanjay Bhasin, Prof of Surgery in GMC and Secretary of JK Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India distributed dry ration at the Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Roop Nagar, Jammu amongst the local poor families including some widows of Butta Nagar, Paloura and Mohalla Saryara. Prof (Dr) GL Thapa, President of All J&K SC and ST Retd Employees Forum, T C Bavoria Retd Deputy Secretary and representative of the JKRCEA, Som Nath Dogra, Incharge of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Roop Nagar Jammu and Roshan Lal Palouria social worker were also present.
Uday Bhanu Chib President IYC JK along with Rajni Bala Corporator Ward Number 60 Paloura Jammu (Secretary JKPCC) distributed ration to about 200 poor and needy labour families of Paloura and Roop Nagar areas.
Ram Leela Club Purmandal distributed essential commodities to needy persons. Ram Leela Club members also presented sanitizing material to SHO Purmandal.
All Gujjar Welfare and Literary Society distributed ration and masks to the needy people in Gunthal area of Poonch District. Ghulam Abass Chairman, Anayet Ullah Advisor and many others were present on the occasion.
Bank of India, Srinagar Branch, Amritsar Zone under NBG North-I has carried out 3rd phase of distribution of dry ration to the needy and distressed people here at Kangan Ganderbal and Habakadal Srinagar under Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility in the UT of J &K. The activity was carried out in association with the Women Wing Samooh, Jammu. Branch Manager Srinagar Branch Mohd Ahraf and many others were present on the occasion.
Beopar Mandal Udhampur distributed ration to the needy people in Ward Numbers 9 and 19 in presence of concerned Councillors. Jitendar Vermani President BMU and other office bearers of the BMU were present on the occasion.
A distribution programme of ration and other eatables at the door step of deserving and needy families was carried out today under the aegis of Lavish Social and Educational Trust in the areas of Barnai and Bantalab. The volunteer’s team comprised of Vishal Jotshi, Vinod Bhat, Vinod Pandita, Chairman LSET, Rakesh Fotedar and MK Koul carried out this distribution drive.
