JAMMU, Mar 27: In view of the complete lockdown owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has ordered a complete ban on all the ongoing construction activities of every nature, including those with sanctioned Building Permission within the JMC limits.
A notice in this regard, issued today by the JMC Commissioner, says: In exercise of powers vested in me under Section 242 of the Municipal Corporation Act 2000, it is ordered that all ongoing construction activities of every nature, including those with sanctioned Building Permission within the Municipal limits are banned with immediate effect, till further orders.”
The ban has been imposed in view of the reports of some illegal constructions, encroachments and other violations taking place within the Municipal limits of JMC.
The circular further says that the construction activity was not only violating the provisions of Municipal Corporation Act 2020 and the District Magistrate Jammu’s order of complete lockdown but was also increasing the threat of spread of the virus through gathering workers at construction sites.
