JAMMU, Mar 17: The voluntarily retired workers of J&K Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) today demanded release of their long pending arrears.
Talking to media-persons Devraj Bali, president All J&K RTC Voluntarily Retired Employees Association said that they are struggling for their pending arrears since long but after the creation of UT, they have high hopes from the Lt Governor. The workers have hope that their pending issues would be solved.
Bali claimed that despite assurance by the senior officers in the RTC, their case was not projected in the Board’s meeting held on March 5, 2020. He said their COLA amount worth Rs 16.76 crore is pending and the Government is not paying the same and causing unnecessary delay.
They pointed out that the workers have been struggling for the last over 9 years for their arrears and during this struggle, 39 VRS given employees also passed away but the State RTC authorities did not pay their pending arrears.
“The Government must pay at least 50 % of their pending arrears as first installment followed by the second. COLA arrears are pending since 1999 and 6th Pay Commission arrears from January 2005. Corporation benefit in favour of VRS given workers should also be given,” Bali maintained.
Association urged upon the Lt Governor, G C Murmu to personally intervene and settle their pending issues.
Bali was accompanied by Surinder Singh, Prem Nath, Suraj Singh and others.
