JAMMU, Feb 6: Former Minister and Senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla today criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Union Government for its anti youth policies by withdrawing age relaxation to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in Civil Services exams that will lead to a disappointment and alienation among the youth.
While mobilizing public opinion against BJP’s anti people policies at Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar constituency, he said the fast growing alienation among youth is very dangerous trend.
“The BJP Government has utterly failed to provide and create avenues of employment for the unemployed youth. False promises were made with the educated youth by the BJP to provide employment to 2 crore people per year in the five years during its first tenure in the Centre,” he said.
He cautioned BJP not to make joke of youth as they are invaluable wealth of the country and asked the youth to rise and give befitting reply to the BJP in the coming days.
“The Congress believes in empowering youth to enable them make choices and emboldened to chase their dreams but in J&K it is more or less out of convenience under BJP rule. Recent decision by the Central Government to scrap the UPSC age relaxation clause to the domicile of J&K has turned the local youth to a state of disconcertment,” he added.
Bhalla demanded continuity of age relaxation clause of 5 years to the domicile of J&K as it compensates to the period lost to violence, terrorism and conflict. The age relaxation clause must be restored in its original form.
It is more unfortunate to note that it has been done when DoPT was headed by Dr Jitendra Singh, Member Parliament from Udhampur Doda constituency, he added.
