RAMBAN, Feb 4: A driver was killed while three others were injured when a tractor trolley rolled down into embankment of river Chenab near Cafeteria Morh late last night here.
As per police sources, a rashly driver tractor trolley without registration number was on its way to Ramban from Karool went the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into embankment of river Chenab, resulting into on the spot death of driver and injuries to three others. In the incident, one person went missing and it is assumed that he might have gone washed away in the river Chenab.
However, on getting information, police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Sunil Sharma along with QRT volunteers rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Anita Sharma along with Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and DySP Headquarters Asgar Malik also reached the spot and supervised the operation.
After hectic efforts of several hours, the three injured persons were retrieved from the gorge and shifted to District Hospital, where they were responding to the treatment when last reports came in. Dead body of the deceased was also retrieved and after completing medical and legal formalities, the body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
According to locals and injured persons, tractor trolley was unloading the muck near Cafeteria Morh when the driver lost control over the vehicle as a result it rolled down into embankment of river Chenab.
The deceased has been identified as driver Altaf Hussain (23), son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Kanga District Ramban, while the injured were identified as Rafiq Ahmed (25), son of Abdul Lateif, a resident of Bhingara Pogal, Mohammad Haneif, son of Mohammad Qayoom, a resident of Gagarnag Ramsu and Farooq Ahmed (24), son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Bhingara Ukhral.
The missing person, who is assumed to be washed away in river Chenab was identified as Mudasir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Pingloga Tehsil Pogal Paristan District Ramban. Efforts to flesh out his body proved futile till the filing of this report.
A case under FIR Number 20/2020 under Section 279, 337 and 304-A IPC has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
