UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Majalta and rescued 18 numbers of cattle, which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police Party led by SHO Majalta, Insp Vijay Thakur, under the supervision of Garu Ram, SDPO Ramnagar and Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Manwal and intercepted one vehicle (Canter) bearing Registration number UP38T- 0090 for checking.
During search, 18 bovine animals were found loaded in the said vehicle without any valid permission. All the 18 bovine animals were rescued even as the accused driver managed to flee away from the spot by taking the advantage of heavy traffic on road.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is going on.
