6th Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra concludes

JAMMU, Oct 2: Sixth Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Sewa Yatra concluded today in an impressive function organized at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.
Conducted by National Medicos Organization (NMO) in collaboration with Sewa Bharti and Seema Jan Kalian Samiti, the Yatra was started on September 24. During the Yatra, the medical camps were held in the remote border areas of the State.
This year total 93 medical checkup and awareness camps were held in various remote border areas of Jammu and Kashmir out of which 18 were held in Kashmir. A total of 27 teams were formed in Jammu region which conducted 75 camps on September 27 to October 1 whereas 7 teams went to Kashmir and conducted 18 camps in Valley on similar pattern.
About 80 specialist doctors and medical students visited Jammu and Kashmir from various states of India to provide their free and self less services to people of J&K. Around 40 doctors and medical students from GMC Jammu also provided their services with great enthusiasm.
Though the free medicines were distributed to the locals, however main objective was to focus on preventive aspects of health and bring awareness among the residents of remote border areas. The doctors along with students delivered health education information and communicated to locals “as per their health requirements.
The valedictory function was chaired by Mayor Jammu Chander Mohan Gupta and Principal Government Medical College, Dr Sunanda Raina while Deputy Mayor Jammu, Poornima Sharma was the guest of honour.
While speaking on the function Mayor, Chander Mohan said that National Medicos Organization (NMO) has done yeoman’s service by organizing these camps in rural and border areas of J&K and creating awareness in general public about the prevention of various diseases.
The Yatra was organized under the supervision of Dr Sumeet Sabharwal (NMO president J&K), Dr Vijender (NMO president, All India) and Dr Deepak Kumar (general secretary, NMO).
