UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: The executive body meeting of PHE Employees Association, Udhampur, held under the chairmanship of Som Nath, district president INTUC and senior vice president of the association, Jammu province.
Speaking on the occasion Som Nath appealed the Minister for PHE, I&FC for an early release of wages which are pending for the past over 13 months as a result of which the workers were confronted with several problems.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting pertained to change of designation as per nature of job being performed by them, holding DPC meeting at Divisonal and Provincial level which has not been conducted for the past 15 years; Provision of additional staff to man the new water supply schemes as hundreds of PHE employees were retiring every year but no new recruitments have been made so far.
The meeting demanded regularization of all daily wagers, ITI workers and community participation workers who have completed seven years of regular service; Conversion of CP workers as daily wagers etc.
The association strongly demanded an early transfer of employees for whom the Government had issued transfer orders a month back. Association warned to come on the road if transfers were not made at an earliest.
Som Nath appealed the Government to fulfill all the genuine demands of employees so that employees were not forced to adopt path of agitation.
Others who addressed the meeting included Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Baldev Raj, Suraj Parkash, Subash Chander, Jagdish Magotra, Shiv Lal, Krishan Chand, Makhan Chand, Janait Ali, Bharat Singh, Luxman Singh, Chuni Lal etc.
