Youth electrocuted, people protest

RAJOURI, May 18: A 25-year-old young man electrocuted at a village in tehsil Kalakote in district Rajouri last night.
A police spokesman said that incident took place at around 9 pm at Mehari village of Kalakote. Mohan Lal (25), son of Tilak Raj of Mehari went on the roof top of his house as there was some fault in the cables . With the help of a rod he tried to press the cables but was trapped in the live wires and was thrown away down the roof top with the impact of electric shocks.
He sustained multiple injuries and burns and was rushed to Kalakote hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Today morning, the police got the post-mortem of the body conducted and handed over it to the family members.
The relatives and villagers kept on the body on the road and held strong protest demonstration alleging that it happed due to high voltage in the cables. They demanded action against the concerned PDD staff and compensation in favour of deceased’s family. They blocked road in Kalakote town for about two hours.
Later ADC Kalakote and tehsildar went there and gave assurance to the protesting people. The people then lifted dharna. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
