JAMMU, Apr 7: Federation of Industries Jammu has shown its resentment towards the Govt decision to depute the staff of Maintenance Wing of Power Development Department on election duty resulting problem being faced by the Industrial Sector of J&K as no one is available for the rectification of faults on power lines.
Lalit Mahajan, chairman Federation of Industries, Jammu has drawn the attention of Shailendra Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, J&K towards the posting of JEs and Linemen of Maintenance wing of Power Development Department on Election duty resulting serious problem being faced by the Industrial Sector of Jammu as no staff is available in the Industrial areas for the maintenance of power supply lines in case of any breakdown.
They pointed out that the JEs and Linemen of Bari Brahmana Industrial areas have been deputed on election duty in Marh Block on the order of the SDM and other areas, far away from Bari Brahmana and it is not possible to rectify the fault in case of power failure to industry.
It is pertinent to mention here that restoration of power supply in the domestic as well as in industrial areas should be the priority of the Power Development Department keeping in mind security related issues related to the Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held from April 11, 2019 onward.
The FoIJ urged upon the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K to intervene into the matter and issue necessary directions in this regard so that this staff is kept out of the purview of election duty.
