J&K’s Mithun Manhas appointed Assistant Coach of RCB for coming IPL season

JAMMU: Former Delhi Cricket Association skipper and highest Ranji Trophy run getter, Mithun Manhas from the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as Assistant Coach of Royal Challenge Bangalore for an upcoming season of Indian Premier League.
As per handout issued here, Manhas, who was assistant coach of Kings XI Punjab in the last season, has the distinction of being the fourth highest run getter in the history of Ranji trophy till date.

Manhas, who has not represented any of the cricket formats for the past two years and yet not announced his retirement from the cricket career, has also been listed in the successful captains under whose guidance many teams won prestigious Deodhar trophy, Duleep trophy and Ranji trophy titles.

Besides international names like Virendra Sehwag, Aakash Chopra, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, who played under his captainship, India captain Virat Kolhi and speedster Ishant Sharma also made their first class debut under him.
Before being appointed as Assistant Coach, Manhas has also resented teams like Delhi Daredevils, Sahara Pune warriors and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
In 2016-17, Manhas was the head coach of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and he played a key role in getting J&K team to script history by qualifying for the first time in T-20.
