NEW DELHI, Jan 24: NHPC and Government of Uttrakhand signed implementation agreements for 210 MW Dhauliganga Intermediate and 120 MW Goriganga IIIA Hydroelectric Projects located in Sharda valley in Uttrakhand.
D.P. Bhargava, Director (Technical), NHPC and Dr. S.S. Sandhu, Principal Secretary (Energy), Govt. of Uttrakhand, signed the agreements in presence of G. Sai Prasad, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC and other officers of NHPC and Government of Uttrakhand.
This outcome has been the result of constant persuasion of Government of Uttrakhand and Ministry of Power, Government of India. First right of purchase for 15% unallocated share of power was agreed to by Govt. of India as a special consideration to Uttrakhand. The projects are likely to provide benefits not only to the State but shall also improve the entire power position of the region.
The projects are to be done on BOOT basis by NHPC with an agreement period of 45 years NHPC has started pending investigations to finalize DPR for processing necessary approvals.
