NPP urges Governor to convene all party meeting

JAMMU, Nov 9: Chief patron of National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh today urged upon the J&K Governor, Satya Pal Malik to convene an urgent meeting of representatives of all recognized political parties including Hurriyat Conference to create a consensus among the political representatives to hold fresh Assembly elections at the earliest so that the people of J&K shall have an appropriate people’s Government to seek solution of their problems.
In a meeting of the NPP leaders/ office bearers held here today Prof Singh said that corruption has gone to the grass root in the bureaucracy and that can be removed only by installing an honest elected Government.
Bhim Singh also appealed to the representatives of all political parties to join hands against corruption, terrorism and abuse of power by bureaucracy so that the people may succeed in eradicating corruption and militancy.
He asked the militants holding guns to surrender with their arms before the police assuring that the State Legal Aid Committee, J&K shall take care of their trials before appropriate court after they surrendered. He said that Acharya Vinoba Bhave had made several hundreds of gun-holding dacoits to surrender and their cases were carefully and gently looked after by the authorities keeping Vinoba Bhave’s assurance in mind.
Prof Bhim Singh said that the State Legal Aid Committee has been fighting cases of several detained boys from J&K and outside for years and got them relief. Many of the ex-militants gave up violence and guns and have been living with their society. This message he assured if reaches the gun-wielding youth in Kashmir itself fetch the results. He said that ‘bullet for bullet’ slogan raised in arrogance has not delivered any result anywhere to curb violence. People of J&K belong to a highly cultured and secular society and he hoped that this voice of living in peace for all if reaches the angry and violent young men they shall also follow the code of non-violence.
Party president and ex-MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, former president Bansi Lal Sharma, PK Ganjoo, Choudhary Mohd. Iqbal, Anita Thakur and others attended the meeting.
