JAMMU, Oct 28: The specially abled cricket team from Punjab lifted the North Zone Cricket Trophy by beating the Haryana team in a keenly contested match here today.
Six teams from North Indian States–New Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and J&K participated in the championship, which was organised under the aegis of University of Jammu, J&K State Sports Council and J&K Association of Deaf and Dumb.
Ranjeet Kalra, Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs Government of Lakshadweep and President J&K Para and Blind Sports Association was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed medals and trophies among the winners.
Kalra while complimenting the organizers and appreciated the support of Jammu University in the conduct of the tournament especially the Vice Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar and Director Sports Dr Daud Iqbal Baba.
He also thanked Secretary the State Sports Council Naseem Choudhary for their help in organizing the mega event. Ranjeet Kalra also expressed gratitude to JU Vice Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar for announcing to organize a cricket camp for the specially abled players at the University later this year.
Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Stadium, Raj Kumar Bakshi Cricket Coach of University, Jai Bharat, Sukanya Bhan, Mohammad Salim, Arwa and prominent sportspersons were present on the occasion.
