19 bovines rescued

RAJOURI, Oct 21: The police rescued 19 bovine animals from the clutches of smugglers while foiling two smuggling attempts last night.
A truck bearing registration number JK02AH /5977 while coming from Jammu towards Rajouri was signalled to stop at Kallar Naka by a team of Police headed by Incharge Police Post Chatyar, SI Sanjay Raina under the supervision of SHO Rajouri, Ajaz Haider.
However, the driver of the vehicle instead of stopping broke the naka and fled towards Rajouri. The vehicle was chased by team of police and was found that driver parked the vehicle around one kilometre from naka and fled taking advantage of darkness.
On checking of vehicle, it was found loaded with 16 bovines. Taking note of it, vehicle was seized while bovines were rescued. A case has also been registered in Rajouri police station.
Another team of police headed by SHO Rajouri, Ajaz Haider under the supervision of DySP headquarters, Rajouri Govind Rattan was on routine patrolling near Salani bridge when one goods carrier vehicle bearing registration number JK02AM/ 8406 was intercepted and stopped for checking. During checking, vehicle was found loaded with three bovines after which driver of the vehicle namely Siraj Din, son of Abdul Amin, resident of Darhal was arrested on spot and vehicle was seized.
