JAMMU, Oct 16: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today inaugurated newly upgraded classrooms of Government High School, Channi Rama.
While addressing the students and staff of the school Randhawa said that education is the major sector to secure the future of the nation. He said that government run educational institutes had been ignored in the past by the legislators, hence, lack infrastructure to meet the future challenges.
Randhawa during a visit to the school around three months back found poor infrastructure and had announced to release Rs 3 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the upgradation of the classrooms which stands completed now. Randhawa said that neat and clean classrooms with modern facilities are need of the hour.
He also provided sports material to the school and urged the teachers to develop the overall personality of children. He said that sports keeps the children physically fit and co-curricular activities are as important as academic activities are.
The Principal of the school raised the demand for new computers for the school responding to which Randhawa immediately announced to provide five computers.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu, J.K Sudan, who was present on the occasion appreciated the quick response of the MLC towards the demand of the school. Principal of the school, Anita Gupta, complimented Ch. Vikram Randhawa for his keen interest and support in upgrading the infrastructure of the school.
