SRINAGAR, Oct 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar- e -Taleem Teachers Forum has sharply reacted to JK Administration’s announcement making Group MediClaim Insurance Policy mandatory for state employees and pensioners.
In a statement issued to media, chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray termed the Government decision making the policy mandatory for employees as unfortunate, unsavoury and uncalled for.
“The Government has hurriedly taken a decision to tie up with M/s Reliance General Insurance Company Limited on annual premium of Rs 8777 for state employees,” trade union leader said.
Tantray further said by this order the administration is turning the State as a market for the Reliance company that is why it has made the policy mandatory for all serving state employees. He questioned the premium which under this policy has been imposed same for all.
“An employee who gets paid Rs 20,000 as well as those getting paid Rs 1.5 lakh have to pay Rs 8,777. When the salary is not the same, on what basis is the premium being deducted from the salary the same?”
Mr Tantray also criticized the reported move of stopping of monthly medical allowance of Rs 300 which the State employees were entitled to. “The state employees were demanding enhancing the allowance to Rs 2000 or at least Rs 1000 but the scrapping of the same has created suspicions in the minds of employees and they are agitated,” Tantray added.
