JAMMU, Sept 13: An emergency meeting of the Retired Officers Forum, Jammu was held here under the chairmanship of I D Soni, president of the Forum, to deliberate the pros and cons of Mediclaim Policy as appeared in the media.
S C Rekhi, Secretary of the Forum, briefed the members who held deliberations on pros and cons of the policy. Some of the members suggested to approach the Governor with the plea to do justice with them with regard to premium of the policy.
Premium for the serving employees has been fixed as Rs 8776/- minus Rs 3600/ (the medical allowance they arc getting annually), which amounts to Rs 5176/- annually whereas on the other hand, in case of retired employees, the premium has been proposed at Rs 22,228/- minus Rs 3600/- (Medical allowance per annum), which calculates at Rs
18, 628/- annually i.e. roughly about four times the premium of serving employees. This
amounts to injustice and illogical and needs to be reviewed, the meet stressed.
