JAMMU, Sept 13: Prote-sting against the frequent power cuts, the hostel boarders of MAM College under the banner of National Secular Forum (NSF) today staged dharna on main road outside the college and blocked the vehicular movement for over half an hour.
The protesting students were led by Anshu Sharma, District president NSF and Surjit Kumar, president NSF’s MAM College unit. The students raised slogans against the PDD and college authorities for their failure to ensure round the clock power supply in college hostel. The hostel boarders maintained that they were suffering a lot due to improper power supply.
Later, the police and PDD officials besides the college authorities reached the dharna site and assured protesting students round the clock power supply in the hostel. Thereafter, students lifted the dharna but warned of launching agitation again if promise made with them is not fulfilled.
