JAMMU, Aug 12: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) held a meeting here, today to take stock of the activities that were undertaken in the last couple of months and also to chalk out strategy for the passage of the Temple and Shrines Bill for maintaining the Hindu religious places of Kashmir.
The prominent who attended the meeting included Ravinder Raina president ASKPC, M.K.Jalali, A.K.Raina, M.M.Thaploo, H.L.Bhatt and Sanjay Koul.
Chairman PNBMT Shiban Khaibri, Shadi Lal its general secretary, Sundri Lal Koul secretary of the Trust, Kashmiri Lal Bhatt and Virender Raina were also present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting Ravinder Raina, president ASKPC expressed serious concern regarding the condition of the temple and shrines properties in Kashmir. He expressed shock and dismay at the manner the temple properties have been allowed to get dwindled and vandalized in the Valley ever since the exodus of the KPs. He also expressed his full support to PNBMT to take the temples Bill to its logical conclusion.
Shiban Khaibri expressed great shock at the manner the Temples of Kashmir are vanishing. He said that these temples have been the symbols of our faith and culture for the last more than 5000 years and are a precious treasure of the pristine Sharda civilization. The temples and shrines of Kashmir have seen a continuous process of neglect and apathy ever since the exodus of K P from Kashmir.
Virender Raina expressed concern that with the further deteriorating situation in Kashmir there is an imminent threat to the very existence of these places of worship.
Members of the PNBMT while speaking on the occasion said that the passage of the all important Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill alone can create a legal and institutional framework that would ensure the safety security and upkeep of these temples. The members were unanimous that there was a need to intensify the efforts at various levels and creating national level consciousness for the passage of the Bill.
Secretary of the Trust Sundri Lal Koul apprised the gathering about the recent initiatives of the Trust. The leaders of the Trust disclosed that in the days to come the members of the PNBMT would be meeting all the important functionaries and lawmakers particularly the officials of the present dispensation in the State to explore the possibilities for bringing an Ordinance on the Temples and Shrines Bill.
