KISHTWAR, Dec 8: Addressing a meeting of BJP party workers during his two-day visit to Kishtwar, BJP J&K Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh said here today that living in a remote hilly area of the State, the Party workers here have to bear with the added responsibility of not only keeping alive the spirit of nationalism against heavy odds but have also to work consistently for mutual amity among different communities because of multi- religious character of this particular district.
Referring to disturbances of last month in Kishtwar, Dr. Jitendra Singh informed that the party is taking up at different levels the issue of continued detention of three youth from minority community for the last more than a month for an alleged “facebook” offence. He called upon the elders and intellectuals from all communities as well as the Kishtwar civil and police authorities to cooperate for early resolve of the issue.
The meeting was organized at the initiative of BJP State Secretary Sunil Sharma.
Earlier, in the presence of Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Kishtwar district unit of the Party elected new Presidents for four Mandals (blocks). This is part of the Party’s organizational election process currently going on throughout the country.
The newly elected Mandal Presidents whose names were announced by Dr. Jitendra Singh included Hari Krishan for Paddar, Harbans Ji for Thathri, Capt. (retd) Chuni Lal for Inderwal and Mohd. Shafi Najar for Marwah. They will hold their respective offices for a team of next three years.
Also present on the occasion were Rajinder Parihar Shaan, Capt. Hukum Chand, Chuni Lal, Lalit Sharma and others.
