POONCH, Feb 23: The people from Darana and adjoining areas held protest against the PHE authorities for the water scarcity and blocked road for over an hour at Mendhar town today.
A large number of villagers from Qasba and Darana assembled at Darana Chowk, Mendhar at around 12 Noon and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the PHE authorities for their failure to provide adequate supply of water to the area. They alleged that water pipes were broken and not repaired since long and water supply to many localities has been snapped for several weeks.

Later, SHO Mohd Amin and Tehsildar, Shahzad Khan arrived there and assured the agitating people that their issue of water will be solved within two days. They also held talks with the AEE PHE Mendhar. On the assurance of Tehsildar, the people then lift dharna from the road.
