Cong responsible for Kashmir situation: BJP

JAMMU, Feb 8: State BJP accused the Congress for present mess in the J&K and termed the taking of J&K issue to United Nations by the then Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru a historic blunder.
In a statement issued here, today, party State secretary, Sanjay Baru said had strong leader like Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel been made the Prime Minister of India at the time of Independence or at least Independent incharge for the affairs of Jammu & Kashmir like other States of India, the situation would have been different in the trouble -torn Valley but Congress due to certain vested interests thought otherwise, Baru added.
He said people of the State as well as rest of country are bearing brunt Pt. Nehru’s blunder.
Baru said that ill efforts of Central leadership of Congress were also supplemented by the ill efforts of State leaders of the party, who equally looted the resources of the State at their will. He said that only BJP has taken various concrete steps for benefits and ease of operation by forces and also facilitated construction of bunker and granted other concessions for the border residents which include compensations for the loss of life, property and livestock, he said.
