Rly Board yet not taken decision on survey conducted twice: CM

JAMMU, Feb 1: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that Railway Board has yet not taken any decision on railway line between Kishtwar and Kathua, the survey for which was conducted twice by the Northern Railways since 2009-10.
In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA from Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar in the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also Minister Incharge Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, said, “survey for railway line between Kishtwar and Kathua was first carried out in the financial year 2009-10”.
“However, latest updated survey report of Reconnaissance Engineering-cum-Traffic Survey for a new line between Kathua-Kishtwar via Basohli-Bhaderwah was submitted by the Northern Railways to Railway Board in January 2016 for consideration”, she said, adding “the decision of the Railway Board is still awaited”.
The length of the railway line proposed in the survey report is 258.10 kilometers with project cost of Rs 6170.91 crore.
