Dewan, Barve, Shrine Board member call on Governor

JAMMU, Feb 1: Parvez Dewan, former Union Tourism Secretary and Advisor to Governor, called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan.
During their meeting, Governor discussed with Dewan varied issues relating to enhancing the prospects of youth and enabling them to settle in careers of their choice.
Governor also discussed with Dewan the need for counseling units being set up in schools, colleges and universities to guide and advise youth about their choice of careers.
Dewan informed Governor about the work he is already doing to promote youth welfare.
Sushobha Barve, Executive Secretary, Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) also called on Governor.
Barve briefed the Governor about the inter-community dialogues being conducted by the CDR in Jammu and Kashmir for building trust through continuing talks, dialogue and discussions. She also informed the Governor about their ‘Youth Leadership Programme’ which was launched to engage youth, particularly of the conflict-affected areas in the State, and inculcate in them leadership qualities for overcoming the challenges to peace and stability in the region.
Governor stressed the need for all possible initiatives being taken for counseling youth to dispel varied influences which thwart their scholastic objectives and come forward to play a positive role in building the future of the State.
H.L. Maini, Technical Advisor and member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board also met Governor and briefed him about the to-date status of the Board’s various ongoing projects for upgrading facilities for pilgrims  including the 7.4 km long Tarakote Track, wayside facilities for pilgrims, stabilization of the vulnerable sites on the Trikuta Mountains, Bhawan-Bhairon Ghati Passenger Ropeway and Siar Dabri-Bhawan Material Ropeway projects.
Governor urged Maini to review all outstanding issues relating to the Master Plan of the Shrine area which is under preparation and to early advise measures for expediting completion of the College of Nursing complex.
