SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to fly in a single-engine seaplane in poll-bound Gujarat, former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked why security protocol was relaxed for the flight.
“How is it that security guidelines were relaxed for this flight? No Z+ protectee is allowed to fly in a single engine aircraft, much less the PM of our country,” the working president of National Conference (NC) posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Abdullah also questioned the decision to have a foreign pilot flying the seaplane, when such tasks are carried out by Indian Air Force pilots.
”Single engine plane. Foreign pilots. Is there any security guideline that will not be thrown out today,” he further asked. ‘
However, reacting to a media report, Abdullah said, ”When you put ‘stunt’ in inverted commas, you make it look like that’s a word I used to describe it. If you want to use the word go ahead, don’t make it look like I did.”
The Prime Minister today travelled in a seaplane from Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad to reach Dharoi dam in Mehsana district of Gujarat, as campaigning for Gujarat Assembly election ends today. It is the first-ever flight by such a craft in the country.
