DODA, Dec 12: The residents of Damsi village in Panchayat Udhanpur held protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) here today.
The residents assembled in front of PDD office here and staged a protest. Amid slogans, they blocked the Doda-Batote highway.
The protestors alleged that a 25 KV transformer was installed in their village in 2004, but due to large population, an upgraded transformer is required to meet their power needs.
“Various times, the installed transformer got damaged due to overload”, they said and demanded installation of 63 KV transformer in their village.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating people by assuring them to take up their demand with concerned officials.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement on Doda-Batote highway was restored.
Meanwhile, a deputation of inhabitants of Damsi village in Udhyanpur Panchayat met MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar and apprised him of their grievances. The inhabitants told that they are facing problem due to lack of proper electric supply and demanded installation of 63 KV transformer so as to ensure adequate power supply to the area.
