Forest officials foil another smuggling bid of firewood

JAMMU, Nov 18: Forest officials foiled another bid to smuggle firewood today. Reacting on a specific information a team of forest officials laid a naka in village Badori tehsil Bari Brahmana. During the physical checking a Tata 608(Junga) bearing registration number JK02B 9951 found to be loaded with firewood about 40 quintals of different broadleaved concealed and camouflaged for smuggling was on the way from Badori to Bari Brahamna.
On enquiry driver of vehicle failed to produce any documents related to the transportation of forest produce (firewood) viz Transportation Permission, Form 25. The said vehicle along with forest produce was seized on the spot by the team.
The team of forest officials comprised of Munish Gupta Range Officer, Purmandal, Ajay Chodhuary Block Forester Aik, Beat officers Mohd. Rafiq, Mohd.Iqbal, Sher Mohd and Nihat Ali under the supervision of Abhijeet Joshi Divisional Forest Officer Samba. Confiscation proceedings were also initiated as per Forest Act before the court of Authorized Officer Samba.
