JAMMU, Aug 12: Natrang in association with Dara Shikoh Foundation is going to organise a two day international theatre workshop for the scholars, actors and theatre lovers at it studio theatre on August 19 and 20, 2017
Natrang will be giving international exposure to the people of Jammu who will have the life-time opportunity to learn new techniques of theatre and performing arts. The actor/scholar conducting the workshop is coming all the way from London.
Giving details the coordinator of this workshop, Aarushi Thakur Rana informed in a press briefing that about 20 people will be selected for this workshop depending on their theatre experience, ability to learn and their passion for the art. Fabian Hartwell – a young and bright scholar from London will be conducting this workshop. Fabian Hartwell is a recent graduate in South Asian Studies from the School of Oriental and Africa Studies in London. He holds a keen interest in musical theatre as both a performer and a teacher. His academic work focuses on the relationship between violence and masculinity in India, with his project for the Dara Shikoh Fellowship exploring ways to understand these phenomena through Augusto Boal’s theatre of the oppressed. Fabian will work on two types of workshops, depending on how many individuals are keen to participate and how long they can participate for.
As theatre requires a high degree of confidence, discipline, creativity and spontaneity, the people eligible to attend this workshop must possess these qualities. There will be a formal selection process and an interview. All the keen participants can contact the Natrang office or apply for the workshop directly at 8082170710. The age limit for this workshop will be 18 to 30 years. Natrang brings this opportunity to the people of Jammu to get international exposure and learn new techniques of theatre. During this workshop, Natrang hopes to initially teach and establish some basic dramatic and storytelling conventions, building trust within the group and then later during the sessions the work of Boal will be explored.
