Srinagar, July 20: Authorities have decided to impose restrictions in eight police station areas of Srinagar tomorrow to thwart a proposed march of separatists to the office of United Nations Military Observer Group here at Sonwar.
An official said that the restrictions would be imposed in areas falling under the jurisdictions of MR Gunj, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Safa Kadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud and Ram Munshi Bagh police stations. He said that no one would be allowed to march or hold any kind of protest outside the UN office.
Besides the march to UN, the separatists including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have also called for a shutdown in Valley tomorrow. Meanwhile, a shutdown was observed in Nawab Bazar area of downtown city against the detention of a local youth by police during which protests were also staged in the area.
