JAMMU, July 1: In order to review the progress of ongoing anti-encroachment drive, Vice Chairman JDA Rajesh Kumar Shavan took the detailed meeting of all revenue and khilawarzi officers.
It was revealed in the meeting that so far the Revenue Department in Jammu and Samba districts has accomplished just 10% to 15% of the demarcation work whereby more than one thousand kanals of land has been retrieved from the encroachers.
The Director Land Management and Collector Land Acquisition informed that encroachments have been removed from Nagrota, Baran, Keran, Bantalab, Bagla (Samba), Nagrota, Sidhra and Majeen villages where encroachers had raised illegal plinths, fencing and structures.
Vice Chairman instructed for the maintenance of proper record of each area to avoid any litigation. It was directed to get the areas properly fenced and delineated by putting concrete pillars in the presence of villagers.
While reviewing the rent collection, it was noticed by the Vice-Chairman that some Government owned institutions are also biggest defaulters among private persons occupying shops, buildings and other assets of JDA and as a result crores of rupees is in the shape of rent is due from them. The Tehsildars were instructed to get the premises sealed after issuance of notices. They were further asked to issue bailable warrants against the chronic defaulters.
Taking serious note of non-performance of some Rent Collectors, Vice Chairman ordered their immediate transfers with the warning to gear up activities by next meeting failing which stringent administrative action will be initiated.
