JAMMU, June 4: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today  dared coalition Govt to show progress in any of the sectors since they are ruling in J&K other than discrimination, betrayal and cheating people of Jammu region.
This was stated by former minister while addressing public gathering at Rampura  as a part of his continuous mass contact programme of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that the condition of link roads is not only worst in Jammu City  but some main roads are also in very bad condition like Rampura and Nai Basti link roads. The link roads are damaged at many places and having deep ditches. The authorities though blame worst condition of roads to digging by ERA and other agencies for laying sewerage pipes and cables etc but the Public Works Department (PWD) has failed to renovate those roads also where no digging was being done by ERA or any other agency and which were damaged due to monsoon and winter rains.
Sewage water is overflowing on to the streets, garbage heaps could be seen at various places, which directly affects the local business community. He said the authorities were repeatedly told about the bad condition, but nothing had been done till date. Since independence Government of India has launched a number of centrally sponsored schemes both in rural and urban areas of the country including the State of Jammu and Kashmir for generating employment opportunities, improving the quality of life, and creation of basic infrastructure and assets essential for economic development. It is the duty of the authorities to mobilize resources, provide funds for the sustenance of this class of people which cannot be denied on the ground of financial constraints.
Lashing out at BJP, he said that selection lists issued during BJP-PDP rule are totally biased as 90 percent jobs have been provided to Kashmiri youth and Jammu youth get only 10 percent share in government jobs. BJP has become mute spectator on discrimination. Expressing resentment over the recent discriminatory selections against the posts of Assistant Professors in Higher Education Department, Bhalla accused BJP for failing to address the issue facing Jammu youth and surrendering itself for the power. He alleged huge regional bias in recruitments made by PSC for the posts of lecturers and assistant professors in various disciplines during the last two and a half years.
He said that the select list of Assistant Professors in Economics in the Higher Education Department revealed abysmally low share of Jammu region in the said recruitment adding that mere three posts went to Jammu region out of 27 in open category and the rest were dished out to Kashmir. He regretted that earlier select lists also figured that out of 58 candidates in Commerce in which 13 belonged to Jammu region, nine candidates out of 34 in History, seven out of 26 in Physics, nine in Psychology out of 27 and likewise in other subjects.
