RAMBAN, Oct 21: In yet another accident during the past 24 hours, two persons were killed and five others sustained injuries when a Tavera vehicle, they were traveling in, rolled down into gorge at Darshipora on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway early this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AW-2436 was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when it met with accident due to the negligence of the driver, who failed to control the speeding vehicle at Darshipora under the jurisdiction of Banihal Police Station.
On getting information about the accident, police personnel from Banihal Police Station swung into action and started rescue operation. All the critically injured occupants of the ill-fated vehicle were brought out of gorge and rushed to District Hospital where two of them were pronounced as brought dead.
The condition of all the five injured was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
The deceased have been identified as driver Mohd Afzal, son of Abdul Gani of Rajouri and Army jawan Balsen Singh of 118 Bombay Engineering Regiment.
The injured are Malkeet Singh, Shivafar, Zarooj, P D Satya and Pandu Ram, all of 118 Bombay Engineering Regiment.
