JAMMU, May 10: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today termed the killing of a Kashmiri Army officer by militants in Shopian district as a “dastardly act of cowardice” and said that it’s high time for both the Govts to come out with concrete mechanism so that such incidents lowering moral of security forces and create panic among general public do not occur.
“Abduction and murder of Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz by terrorists in Shopian is a deceitful act. This young officer from Jammu and Kashmir was a role model. We share the grief of the family of Lt Ummer Fayaz and stand in solidarity. The bullet-ridden body of 22-year-old Fayaz was found early on Wednesday morning in Shopian district. Fayaz was kidnapped by militants late on Tuesday evening from Kulgam town where he had gone to attend a marriage ceremony,” it is very shocking Bhalla said.
Saying that State Govt failed to provide people with the basic amenities and infrastructure required for catering to their daily problems and woes like electricity and supply of drinking water, Congress leader said it was unfortunate that people were being subjected to load shedding of electricity for long hours.
Addressing the party workers at Trikuta Nagar he said the Government has even failed to provide people with the basic amenities and infrastructure required for catering to their daily problems and woes.
Bhalla slammed Govt for snubbing yet again people of Jammu province with a proposed move to close completely the Civil Secretariat in Jammu for full six months – a move that would further add to the woes and difficulties of the already suffering people of Jammu region. He said that such a move will force aggrieved people from Jammu region to go to Srinagar to get their work done.
Regarding unscheduled power cuts and erratic water supply in Jammu region, Bhalla said Govt should provide uninterrupted and regular power supply to the people of Jammu and other districts of the province.
