JAMMU, Apr 10: A female scholar in Jammu University was robbed of her purse when she was busy in practical work, this afternoon.
The incident took place in the Chemistry Department when an unidentified youth decamped with purse of female scholar, who was busy in the Laboratory. As another female scholar noticed the miscreant lifting purse, she tried to catch him but could not succeed in the same.
After an alarm was raised, a few more scholars and employees tried to chase the accused but he managed to flee along with the purse, which was later found near Bahu Plaza. However, the valuable items, including mobile phone and cash were missing from the purse.
This was the second such incident of purse lifting. Last week, purse of a female Professor was lifted from her office.
