Civic Safai Karamcharis threaten to resume strike after Apr 26

JAMMU, Apr 10: The Civic Safai Karamchari Union has threatened to resume its strike if its demands are not conceded by April 26.
Addressing a press conference, president of Civic Safai Karamchari Union, Rinku Gill informed that the Government has assured to conside their demands after the by-elections are over and an agreement in this regard has been made upto April 26.
“If the demands are not met, then we will resume the strike and the Government would be solely responsible for the inconvenience to general public in that case,” he said while reiterating the demands of Union.
Pertinent to mention that the JMC Civil Safai Karamchari Union is demanding scrapping of NGO system in JMC, regularization of drivers/conductors and re-organization of the JMC staff as the Municipal wards have increased from 23 to 71.
Earlier, the strike was suspended on the assurance of DC Jammu and DIG Jammu-Kathua, who had assured that next meeting on their demand would be held on April 6.
“After no response from Government on April 6, we resumed strike from April 7 following which DC Jammu and the DIG and JMC Advocate M S Qureshi met with the union leaders on April 8 and made agreement for considering the demands after the by-elections are over,” said Suresh Sharma, State president of PDP Trade Union, who was also present in the press conference.
He added that in view of prevailing flood-like situation in Kashmir valley and the by-elections, the Union agreed to suspend the strike upto said.
Those, who were present in the press conference, included Ranjeet Singh, Vijay Kumar, Ashwani, Gulzar Masih, Camres David Babloo, S Deedar Singh, Jewles Sotra, Manga Mattoo, Sunny Gill, Kulvinder Khokhar, Rajesh Sotra, Tarsem Sotra, Marshal, David Gill and others.
