JAMMU, Mar 22: On 37th day of their hunger strike, the agitating Contractual Lecturers (10+2) took out a protest rally and reiterated their resolve to continue the struggle till a logical conclusion.
Shouting slogans in support of their demand for regularization, the protesting Contractual Lecturers also held a demonstration. Family members of some of the agitators joined the protest rally and demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Forest, Choudhary Lal Singh also visited the protesting Contractual Lecturers and assured to take up their demand with the concerned authorities. He expressed sympathy with the agitators, particularly female Contractual Lecturers, who are observing chain hunger strike while on of them is on fast unto death.
The visit of Lal Singh was not scheduled but by chance when he reached Press Club Jammu for addressing a press conference there in connection with announcement of a wrestling event.
On the request of agitating Contractual Lecturers, the minister visited the venue of hunger strike and listened to their grievances and demand.
These Contractual Lecturers are agitating for their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
