JAMMU, Dec 27 : A person was killed while six others were injured in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a speeding motorcycle hit a scooty coming from wrong side here at Shalamar Road, late last night. In the mishap, the rider of the scooty, who was identified as Sunny (26) son of Joginder Lal, resident of Shekh Nagar, Bagh-e-Bahu and pillion rider, Varun Gupta (26) son of Madan Lal Gupta, resident of Lakhdata Bazaar, received serious injuries.
Both the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Sunny was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was today handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Meanwhile, in Janipur area two bikes collided today, resulting into injuries to men. The injured were identified as Pamma Bhat (46) wife of Rattan Lal, resident of Bohri and Sumit Bhat (34) son of Brij Krishan Bhat, resident of Muthi.
At Kothe Morh in Bishnah area, an unknown vehicle hit a cycle and injured its rider namely Sukh Ram (50) son of Sewa Ram, resident of Lallechak (Bishnah). A 28-year-old woman identified as Sarbjeet Kour wife of Sukhdev Singh, resident of Gole Gujral Camp suffered injuries when the scooty on which she was travelling got slipped near her residence.
A pedestrian identified as Kamla Rani (50) wife of Kala Ram, resident of Digiana, received injuries when she was hit by a scooty at Digiana.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment while the concerned police had also taken cognizance of the matter.
