JAMMU, Nov 27: Fulfilling a long pending demand of the residents from areas of Gharana, Haripur and others, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today kick started the blacktopping works for 3.5 kilometers stretch of road from Gharana to Haripur.
The project is being undertaken under the City Town Plan with an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakhs.
Speaking on the occasion, the PHE Minister said that this was the long pending demand of the people of the area and will give great relief to the villagers connecting by this link. He said roads are vital for development of any area, adding that every effort is being made by the Government to connect all unconnected and inaccessible areas through a road network.
Sham said all the developmental initiatives will be fast paced and completed in a time bound manner. He sought cooperation from the people in ensuring speedy development of their areas and asked them to come forward and personally supervise the quality of works.
The Minister directed the Engineers to strictly maintain the quality of works as per the specifications and complete the same in a time bound manner.
The Minister assured the people that their issues will be taken up with the concerned departments at the earliest. The locals present there thanked the Minister for the sincere efforts of the Government for development and welfare of the people.
Earlier, PHE Minister handed over the 4.5 KM stretch of Badyalquzin to Fatuchak to people which were completed with an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh.
