JAMMU, Nov 24: The Congress Party activists today held strong protest demonstration at Kathua, Vijaypur (Samba) and Udhampur and blocked highway, seeking removal of two BJP ministers from the Cabinet for their alleged involvement in Rs 13 crore real estate scam and seizure of currency worth Rs 5 crore from one of the minister’s vehicle in Jammu.
At Kathua, the Congress workers led by senior PCC leader Rajneesh Sharma ( Mian) and assisted by DCC members Naresh Sharma, Pankaj Dogra, BS Pathania, Nirdosh Sharma, Aradhana Andotra and Pankaj Sharma took out a protest rally and then came on the National Highway at Hatli Morh and disrupted the movement of vehicles for about 45 minutes.
They were shouting slogans against BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and State BJP president Sat Sharma, demanding removal of two tainted BJP cabinet ministers. They alleged that while one senior minister was involved in Rs 13 crore real estate scam and police seized currency worth Rs 5 crore from the vehicle of another fire brand BJP minister in Jammu few days back but it was released after intervention of same minister. The police was trying to hush up the case. s They demanded that BJP National president or the J&K Chief Minister should sack these ministers and expose their names as well.
Congress workers also blocked Jammu-Pathankot highway at Vijaypur during protest against Modi Government for its failure to deal with crises erupted after demonetization and corruption by two BJP Ministers in J&K.
Led by former minister and PCC general secretary, Manjit Singh, a large number of Congress workers assembled in Vijaypur town in Samba district and held a protest denomination against BJP ministers in State.
“With change in denomination, poor and farmers have become victim of the Government’s false policy. Only the poor people have been affected badly with the Modi Government’s decision, but no rich or black money holder has come in queue for currency change,” Manjit Singh alleged.
He said that Modi Government abruptly took decision and implemented across the country without proper planning on ground leading to chaos among the poor masses. He appealed Central Government to re-consider its decision.
Manjit Singh further appealed the Governor NN Vohra to sack two ‘corrupt’ BJP ministers from the Coalition Government. “BJP Minister’s vehicle was intercepted with cash in crores but it was not seized, as per the reports published in media. Another minister stuck deal worth Rs 13 with own party MLC,” he said.
Senior leaders Babble Gupta, Col (Rtd) Swaran Singh,Trith Bhagat, Raj Kumar Bhagat, Sarpanch Sham Lal, Bharat Bhushan and Makhan Lal Gupta also accompanied.
Similar protest was demonstration was organised by District Congress Committee, Udhampur today. The Congress leaders and workers led by PCC spokesperson Farooq Andrabi and DCC president Ashok Gupta assembled at Dhar Road and blocked the highway for about an hour, disrupting movement of the vehicles. Ashok Gupta was assisted by several senior DCC functionaries including Vijay Manhas, Krishan Chand Bhagat (Ex-MLA), Vinod Khajuria, Ashok Bakshi, Surinder Kumar advocate, Mohd Mushtaq, M L Kalsotra and others. They were raising anti-BJP slogans and demanding removal of two BJP ministers from the Cabinet. They warned to intensify the agitation through out the State if the corrupt ministers were not sacked by the Chief Minister or BJP national president.
