One killed, three injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 14: A man was killed while three others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, an LP truck bearing registration number JK02M-6737 hit two pedestrians near Asia Hotel, killing one of them on the spot and injuring other. The deceased was identified as Chand Thakur (55) son of Bhagat Ram, resident of Padder and the injured was his nephew namely Vinay Kumar (29) son of Balak Ram. Vinay was an employee of Amrita Hotel, Raghunath Bazaar and the deceased had come to him for doing some shopping in connection with some marriage.
After completing post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while the injured was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
The concerned police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused truck driver, who was identified as Joginder Singh son of Hoshnak Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
Meanwhile, two brothers identified as Harminder Singh (25) and Amrinder Singh (23), sons of Rajinder Singh and resident of Luchi Bagh (Srinagar), at present residing near BC Road, Jammu, were injured when the bike on which they were travelling, was hit by a car at Jeevan Nagar (Digiana).
They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
