JAMMU, Oct 2: Vedic Brahman Kalyan Prishad (BVKP) today resolved to bring reforms in the community and honour the children and youth of the community for their outstanding performance in the field of education, sports and elders for their extra-ordinary contribution for the society.
In a meeting of the J&K unit of the BVKP held here today under the chairmanship of Pt Daya Ram Sharma at Subhash Nagar here today, a large number of members from Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi districts participated.
Subhash Kaushik from Gurugram (Gurgaon-Haryana) was the chief guest while Ravinder Mohan Sharma, Sushil Bhardwaj from Karnal; Raj Kumar from Kurukshetra, Sushil Katyayan from UP and Nikhil Sharma from Chandigarh were the guests of honour. Senior members of the J&K unit of the Prishad, including Daya Ram Sharma, Hari Om Sharma, Ramesh Chander, Ved Parkash, Rameshwar Dutt Sharma and Suresh Shastri felicitated the guests from out side the State.
In his presidential address, Daya Ram Sharma stressed upon the need to bring reforms in the Vedic Samaj and work for its upliftment. He said that like other Biradaris, Vedic Brahman Kalyan Parishad will provide assistance to the poor families and students and honour those excelling in various fields. He stressed the need for unity among the members of the community.
Mr Kaushik, enlightened the members of the community with his revolutionary remarks and said that they should follow the principles of their Great Guru Darona Acharya and great saints, like Modgil, Vashisht, Bhardwaj etc. He appealed the members to add the names of their great Rishis/ Saints with their own names instead of simply Sharma. He appealed the members to bring reforms in the Vedic Brahman community and help the poor and needy members of the society. Mr Kaushik appealed the community for unity and strengthening the mass base in J&K state.
Besides, R M Sharma, several other members of the Parishad including Rajesh Sharma, Naresh Sharma, Vikrant Sharma, Bansi Lal Sharma, Ved Parkash, Gopal Sharma, Baldev Sharma, Prem Sharma, Pardeep Sharma and Ravi Kant Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
