JAMMU, July 6: A man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Sarwal area while two others including a young woman made an abortive attempt on their life at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Chander Dass (48) son of Ram Krishan, a resident of Sarwal, consumed some poisonous substance at his residence during the intervening night of July 5 and 6. Founding him unconscious, the family members shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he expired today at about 4.20 pm. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital for post mortem.
In a separate incident, Ravi Kumar (32) son of Satpal, resident of Narwal Payeen was today found unconscious in his room at his residence. He was immediately shifted to GMCH where doctors said that he had consumed some poisonous substance. His condition was stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, a young woman identified as Payal Kalra (27) wife of Ambar Kalra, resident of Sector 3, Channi Himmat, made an abortive attempt on her life by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence. She was also taken to GMCH for treatment.
In all three cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
