LPG dealer fined for overcharging

UDHAMPUR, June 20: The Department of Legal Metrology today imposed a fine of Rs ten thousand on a LPG dealer for overcharging on the sale of domestic cylinders, here in Udhampur.
The team, led by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Jaideep Singh Sambyal, booked the dealer for said offence following complaints from consumers regarding overcharging and poor home delivery in the town.
The department has also served legal notice to the management of the concerned oil company. The management confessed its guilt and pleaded for composition of the case while the Assistant Controller, on written assurance that the same shall not be repeated in future, compounded the case.
Further the Assistant Controller directed the dealer to prominently display mobile numbers of delivery man area wise in print media and outside the showroom for the information of consumers so that they can do booking through SMS. He also directed the dealer to educate people regarding PDT (Preferred Delivery Time) system to facilitate the consumers where both husband and wife are working and there is nobody at home to take delivery
Meanwhile the Assistant Controller has appealed to the public to register their genuine complaints with the office of Legal Metrology so that offenders may be brought to book for further legal action.
