Govt to renovate springs in Kashmir under PM’s Special Package

SRINAGAR: The State Government has decided to renovate springs under Prime Minister’s Special Package to attract more tourists and increase the footfall of national and international visitors in the valley.

Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar today informed the Legislative Assembly that Kund Vasak Nag in Devsar has been developed at a cost of Rs 66.68 lakh under Rural Tourism Scheme.

Replying to a question by Muhammad Amin Bhat, the Minister said that Rs 48.53 lakh have been incurred for the hardware component and Rs 18.15 lakh for software component for the development of Kund Vasak Nag. He said that the project stands completed by way of construction of cafeteria and beautification of spring etc.

The Minister said that under state plan, the Tourism Department has also created some tourist related infrastructure in Devsar, which includes development of Imam Bara at Wanigam and development of Ziarat Sharief Kallam.

He said that under Prime Minister’s Special Package, the Tourism Department has proposed to take up the project ‘Renovation of Springs in Kashmir Division’ under which Chashmar, Pansarath Naag in Devsar constituency will also be included, subject to the approval of DPR by the Union Ministry of Tourism and availability of resources.
