JAMMU, Sept 17: State High Court today rejected the bail application of Rajinder Sharma, who was allegedly involved in throwing acid on one Sohan Singh and directed Director General of Police for taking appropriate action for the lapse of SSP Udhampur.
After hearing both the sides, Justice Virender Singh observed, “vide order dated July 25, 2012 State counsel was directed to produce injured Sohan Singh in the Court. On July 30, 2012 Sohan Singh was not produced as per the earlier direction and accordingly SSP Udhampur was directed to ensure his presence”.
“Registrar Judicial was also directed to ensure that the order is conveyed to SSP by fax, telephonically or any mode which he deems fit. The record reveals that copy of the order was conveyed to SSP Udhampur through fax on July 30, 2012. Despite that he has not made any attempt to ensure presence of Sohan Singh. No intimation from his end is available on record”, the Court said.
With these observations, the High Court directed DGP to enquire into it and take appropriate action so that in future such type of lapse does not occur. The Court also dismissed the bail application with the direction to Registrar Judicial to communicate copy of this order to DGP for taking appropriate action for the lapse of SSP Udhampur.
