Proposal for rehabilitation of Jammu migrants, remittance of power arrears to be tabled on Sept 18 Apex meet

JAMMU, Sept 16: The Apex Advisory Committee on Kashmiri migrants will meet in Summer Capital on September 18 to review the progress on various decisions taken in the last meeting held here on April 18.
The meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. The Government side will be represented by Minister of Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation , Raman Bhalla, Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Nasir Aslam Wani, Secretary cum Commissioner, Revenue and Relief, B A Ronyal, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R K Pandita and other senior officers of the Relief organization.
According to official sources the CM will review the decisions taken in last meeting which include the progress on brining an ordinance for protection of Hindu shrines and religious places in Valley. The CM in the last meeting had announced to bring an ordinance for creation of the Prabandhak Board for the protection of Hindu temples and shrines in Kashmir valley which was a long pending demand of the community.
The sources said the proposal in this regard was since submitted by the Revenue Department to Law Department for its examination. Besides the action taken report on enhancement of cash relief the proposal for which was submitted to Union Government along with revised package for return and rehabilitation of migrants in Kashmir valley will also be discussed.
The action taken report on tour of migrant students to Kashmir darshan, referring of 3000 posts under State sponsorship to Central Government as the State was bereft of resources, minority status to KPs, inventory details of migrants property and their present status, termination of those Apex Committee members who fail to attend two consecutive meetings, age relaxation to the over aged youth, appointment of migrant youth in police and holding of Apex Committee meetings at Jammu as well as Srinagar will also come for discussion.
The sources said some decisions were implemented already which included grant of age relaxation to overaged youth, termination of the members who could not attend two consecutive meetings and in this regard three members who failed to attend the last two meetings were not allowed to attend the meeting on September 18.
Sources said the relief orgnisation will also keep a proposal in the ensuing meeting regarding the rehabilitation of Jammu migrants and non migrant Pandits, merger of migrants ration with relief, creation of drivers posts in relief organization, decision on outstanding electricity arrears of migrant camps that has led to curtailment of power supply to Jagti township, handing over of water supply of Jagti and other camps to PHE Department, creation of two police posts for Jagti and simplification of medical aid scheme.
However, some Apex Committee members will press for enhancement of relief, opening of migrant Higher Secondary School at Bohri and Girls Higher Secondary School at Roop Nagar. They will also demand posting of promoted displaced teachers in these schools as well as female teachers appointed under PM’s package in Valley said H L Chatta, Apex Committee member.
Meanwhile, the migrant relief holders sitting on dharna at Jagti, Butta Nagar , Purkhoo and in front of Relief organization have made an appeal to Chief Minister to take an early decision on enhancement of cash relief demand in view of the economic hardships faced by them.
They also urged the Apex Committee members to raise the issue with full force in the meeting and in case there are no tangible results they should resign enmass. This was stated by Ajay Bhat representative of relief holders.
