2 Army men, CO’s guest arrested for poaching

Srinagar, Apr 15: Police have arrested three persons including two army men and guest of an army officer for poaching endangered deer species in Ladakh region and sent them to 5 day police remand.
Police arrested three persons, Havaldar Kata Prahsan, Lance Naik Inder Soni Singh of 254 Armored Regiment and guest of the Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Arjun Nehta son of Balraj Nehta of Dwarka New Delhi in Leh for poaching endangered deer species.
Police have registered a case (FIR 15/2016 dated 13/04/2016 under Section 8/51 Wild Life Act) against the trio and sent them to 5 day police remand on charges of poaching endangered Ladakhi deer species, Urail.
Police have seized Army Gypsy bearing registration No -14B 113935N and recovered a telescopic gun and ammunition from it at Nanakhill near Leh. They have also found fresh blood and a piece of skin of the endangered deer species inside the army vehicle.
Reports said that a Wild Life team headed by Tsering Angchok caught a civilian with two army persons shooting at Ladakhi Urail two days ago. The army men beat up the Wild Life officials who later informed the local police.
Police immediately swung into action and arrested the three persons, recovered arms used for hunting and seized the vehicle. Reports said that the army unit tried to influence the local police but they lodged a case.
