Cong leaders ask workers to gear up for ULB polls

BARAMULLA, Apr 7: Senior leaders of Pradesh Congress Committee have appealed the party workers from Rafiabad area to gear up for the coming Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections.
In an extraordinary meeting of prominent Congress leaders and workers of North Kashmir held at Achhabal Rafiabad in Baramulla district today, the speakers referred to the forthcoming ULB and Panchayat polls. They appealed the workers to expedite their activities in their respective pockets. Threadbare, discussions with regard to socio-political situation obtaining in the State were also held. Many issues of public importance came under discussion. The participants expressed concern over the rising unemployment in the State and urged upon the Government to take measures for curbing this menace.
The meeting was presided over by PCC vice president Haji Abdul Rashid Dar (MLA).
Prominent among other who spoke on the occasion included Senior leader and former Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Gulam Nabi Monga (MLC), Shoaib Nabi Lone (Ex-MLA), District presidents Aftab Ahmad Biegh, Imtiyaz Parray, Farooq Mir and Fayaz Ahmad Malik and others.
The leaders while addressing urged upon the Party cadres to gear up for forthcoming ULB elections in the State. They said Congress Party is duty bound to strengthen the democratic institution of the State and defeat the forces or factors undermining the authority of these institutions.
The leaders expressed confidence that it is the Congress Party alone which has strengthened the people of the country, from grass roots level, through Panchayati Raj and other democratic Institutions thereby, ensuring their participation in the developmental process.
They expressed confidence that Congress Party being a vibrant force would continue to serve people and is committed fully to equitable development of all the three regions of the State.
Seeking resolution of the unemployment problem confronting youth across the State, the Congress leaders urged upon the Govt to make serious efforts for curbing the unemployment menace on priority basis.
