JAMMU, Apr 7: The advocates held protest over NIT Srinagar issue and suspended work across the Jammu Province.
Large number of advocates assembled outside High Court, Janipur and held protest under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir. They condemned the NIT Srinagar incident and demanded security cover for non-Kashmiri students.
Addressing the protesters, the office bearers of JKHCBA appealed to the Government to look into the incident and take action against those, who are responsible for polluting the peaceful atmosphere of NIT campus by indulging in anti-national activities.
Bar Association Kathua and District Young Bar Association Kathua jointly suspended the work in District and Sessions Court Kathua in support of call given by J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu in order to protest against the brutal assault of Police on the innocent students of NIT Srinagar by forcibly trespassing into the premises of campus where large number of students were peacefully raising Indian Triclour Flag and chanting slogans in favour of India.
A protest demonstration was also organised in front of the main gate of Court under the leadership of Pankaj Gupta, President District Young Bar Association Kathua where a dozens of advocates protested over NIT episode.
While addressing the gathering, Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma, Ex-President DYBAK, condemned the brutal act of Police on the innocent non local students NIT.
Advocate Pankaj Gupta in his address condemned the role of local administration and police which assaulted the innocent students who were peacefully raising Triclour flag in the campus of NIT.
Others Bar members who participated in the protest demonstration includes Advocate Eshan Mahajan General Secretary DYBAK, Advocate Devinder Singh, Advocate Saurav Mahajan, Advocate Adarsh Kumar, Advocate Balwinder Singh, Advocate Pankaj Kumar, Advocate Pawandeep Singh, Advocate Mandeep Singh, Advocate Vikram Singh, Adovate Surjeet Kumar, Advocate Janardhan Singh, etc.
Similar protest by advocates were also held in various districts including Udhampur, Reasi, etc.
